Sadr Zaparov said that Kyrgyzstan is currently undergoing a series of reforms in its energy structure. The Isekkul 1000 MW photovoltaic power plant project is the first large-scale centralized photovoltaic project in Kyrgyzstan. It will not only benefit the Kyrgyz people in the long run, but also greatly enhance the independent power supply capacity and promote economic and social development and prosperity.

The political leaders and people of Kyrgyzstan have paid close attention to the progress of this project. "Kyrgyzstan, which has abundant hydropower resources, has developed less than 70 percent of its hydropower resources and needs to import a large amount of electricity from neighboring countries every year," Kyrgyz Prime Minister Azzaparov said in a special video conference on May 16. "When completed, the project will greatly enhance Kyrgyzstan's ability to provide electricity independently."
